Excerpt from A frail New World

“Either way, someone would have unlimited access to the program, and they could manipulate the entire world through the internet, completely undetected. The citizens of this country think our life is rock solid, and before 9/11 it probably was… but I assure you, we walk a thin line between a disastrous ending and a miraculous recovery, because it’s a frail new world out there, and we have to be careful about everything we do… or don’t do!”

The book is nearing completion folks, and the good Lord willing, should be available on Amazon in digital format soon. I will keep everyone updated, and will continue to post excerpts from different chapters, throughout the month.

Let's get it started!

I decided to do something creative, the moment I found myself on unemployment for the very first time in my life. Never in a million years would I have believed that my creativity would have led me down such a tenuous path, as I embarked upon this journey of enlightenment. I truly believed the hardest part to penning a book was the culmination of the idea itself, as well as organizing the thoughts and putting them to paper. Boy was I wrong!
Trust me, I was elated with its completion, and honestly believed that all I needed to do was find that perfect agent or publisher that would take me on the next leg of my journey. That was far from the truth! After completing the novel, I had to write the perfect query letter, this… I soon found out, was not nearly as easy as it sounded. How hard could it be? I said to myself as I laid down a letter that described every aspect of my masterpiece in 1200 words. I wrote exciting word after exciting word, describing what I thought to be the perfect novel…. How could anyone not appreciate that?
Once again I say, ‘Trust me’… it’s not nearly as easy as it sounds! My first few letters went out with great expectations as I waited patiently at my desk for all those offers to roll in…. Well the responses rolled in I assure you, but they lacked the offers my naivety was expecting. “What was I doing wrong?” was the question of the day!
The answer to this perplexing question was…. persistence! Although, I have yet to find that perfect agent or publisher, I have now found renewed strength!

My intentions for this blog, is to help other new authors avoid the pitfalls that await them after they’ve completed their work, as well as a place for them to bolster each others confidence through a question and answer forum. So please ask questions you feel will help new authors, and give answers that are relevant.
I will also be using the site to promote my newly finished book, ‘A frail new world’ which should be on the Amazon Kindle site shortly… God willing!

Thanks, Morgan James
